Aftertasteful

Designers Kimberly Linn and Katie Streeter have bestowed a precious, precious gift on the world, and we had no idea we were hungry for it: Lesbian emojis. "What on Earth could lesbian emojis be?" you may be thinking to yourself in your sad lesbian-emojiless existence. "How ever could lesbians need lesbian-specific emojis?" Well, as many in the community may know, there are some playful, recurring jokes that get bantered about (most, if not all, appearing in one episode of The L Word or another), and seeing as emojis are the hip new thing to do, it's only natural that these references should get memorialized in our digital lingua franca.

Speaking to Huffington Post, Linn says that she and Streeter were sitting on the porch downing a couple bottles of wine—the sweetest and most generous of muses—when the idea came to them.

From Huffington Post:

I was looking down at my phone looking at my "recently used emojis" and realized I only use emojis that can be interpreted in gay ways. [Streeter] and I started spitballing emojis that could be released that were only for lesbians. We wrote out a list of about 100 of them and I started designing them.

And we are so happy you did. Here are a selection of my favorites with a brief description below each one:

And the one that started it all: The Fish Taco.

Be sure to check out their Instagram page (which they're continuing to update) for more amazing emojis. Linn and Streeter plan on releasing these venerable works of art soon for digital consumption, and they also envision producing prints and greeting cards. I need them immediately.
